Acts of Kindness

We had new neighbors move into the house across the street from us last week so we took them freshly baked (still warm) chocolate chip cookies and introduced ourselves.

Tonight another neighbor that lives 2 doors down brought Peaches a handmade bird house. As I type we are baking him confetti cupcakes with vanilla frosting.

Last week at work I helped a girl win a gift basket and $50 cash. Later that same day, I was told that I won a $50 gift card in another contest we are having.

I bought a ladies milk for her at the grocery store one day. When I got home from the store there were freshly baked cinnamon rolls (made from scratch) on my front porch.

I bought lunch for a girl last week at work (who had forgotten her wallet). I had used all of my cash and didn't have any money to give to Peaches for Cheer Camp. Two days later I received an envelope in the mail from the girl that I had bought lunch for.........she was repaying me for the lunch. I now had cash to buy Peaches tattoo and ribbon at Cheer Camp.

New music

Yeah...just skip past all that Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus stuff.

Teach them early

That's right, teach them early and they'll remember lessons learned. Like how to hang on when accelerating.

And how to correctly give the "Rock On!" finger salute! For those wondering about the bandana, Peaches spotted three bikers in the cafe we ate breakfast in yesterday on the way home from NC. Two guys and a girl, both guys with bandanas and tattoos. So on the way home she's asking if I have any bandanas she could have. I told her that I would have to look, and if I found one, she could have it. Well, I found the one she's wearing (and has been wearing since Sunday afternoon), and while I was at a church meeting she pitched a fit because Laura wouldn't take her to get a "fire tattoo". I walked into a house full of female angst...Peaches sulking because of not getting a tattoo right now, and Laura steaming cuz Peaches didn't get it. Now, usually I am not the peacemaker...go figure. So I had to try and convince Peaches that we couldn't go out on Sunday and get her tattoos. She settled for trying to find some the next time we went out. Giving her a ride in the evening helped some, too. Since today was ride your bike (motorcycle) to work day, I already had the bike out and that's how these pictures came about. So if anyone knows a tattoo artist who works on 5 year olds, and is cheap...let Peaches know.

Pearson Falls

After our trip to Hendersonville, Peaches wanted to hike up to Pearson Falls to see the 90 foot waterfall. We made it there about 3:30 PM (right when it started to rain). We hiked up the mountain in the rain and came down in the mud. I saw my first snake on the way down among several other critters!! By the time we got back to the car we were all completely soaked. It was worth it though.

Tryon, NC

This is Morris the Horse in downtown Tryon, NC.
I love how the railroad tracks go off into the mountain.

Welcome to Hendersonville

After a 20 minute twisty and curvy ride up the mountain we made it to Hendersonville, NC on Saturday (6/13/09 about 10 AM. Peaches hopped out of the car and started throwing up all over the sidewalk. Great start to the day! We actually loved the small town and spent about 5 hours there walking into their shops, eating icecream, drinking freshly squeezed lemonade made by a 200 year old lady, listening to a homeless guy play the harmonica, visiting the railroad museum (which was closed when we got there but the guy was nice enough to let us look around), eating lunch at MargaritaGrille and talking to the natives. I miss it already.

Look Mom, No Training Wheels

John taught Peaches how to ride her bike with no training wheels. She is doing really well. She only has bruises up and down both arms and legs and one bruise on her chest. Enjoy the video.
