Chore Chart

I got the brilliant idea to make Peaches a Chore Chart so she can start earning an allowance. She thought that was a wonderful idea and it would be so much FUN. Yeah, that thought did not last very long. She figured out that she actually had to do the work every day and didn't earn very much for doing it. I think she earned about $7.00 over the course of 6 weeks. She then realized that $7 didn't buy her very much. What does she think about the chore chart now?? Well, lets just say it is blank & the gravy boat that she stores her allowance money in is almost empty. When I told her that I took the chart down, she shouted "Yes" and said "I don't like that game". Where did I go wrong?

Trampoline

This is the newest addition to our family. I used to be really against them but once I got one it was hard to get off. We had so much fun on the trampoline. I always wanted one growing up but my parents were always afraid we would get hurt. Peaches was going to turn John into Walmart because he was doing somersaults when he wasn't supposed to. She was even looking for a toll free number on the tag so she could turn him into the trampoline police.

Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken

Laura's Favorite Dish

Recently I had a poll for everyone to vote on my favorite food. I know you are dying to know what it is....................................is the suspense killing you yet?
Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken (Found only at Nick's House of Pizza in West Columbia).
I did not get paid for that plug, but really you must go there and try it. Yummy.

First Love

This is what Peaches came home with yesterday. Should I be worried? I actually thought it was really sweet.

Career Day at WKE

This is a pre-post. John will be going to Career Vehicle Day and Career Day at WKE this week. Stay tuned for an exciting update from John.
I remember my dad used to come to all of my Career Days when I was in elementary school, he was a fireman and drove a fire truck and when you are 5 years old, you think your dad is AWESOME! The whole school thought he was awesome too so that made me COOL. He was a paid fireman in my home town and my mom started up the Ladies Auxillary I remember riding in the fire truck during the parade and getting to sit near Santa. I remember my dad would take me to work with him when I was sick and couldn't go to school, and I would sleep in the cab of the fire truck. How cool is that?

Check that Pew

Sorry to those of you that had to listen to Peaches get sick in the middle of sacrament. Quite embarrassing for us. I think we stayed all of 20 minutes. I also had to borrow the trashcan from Nursery if anyone even noticed that it was missing. I didn't technically steal Church property, I just borrowed and will return next week. Peaches just woke up and seems to be somewhat better now. I guess it is just a stomach bug that is going around. Good thing school is out tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's day!

How did you tell your sweetie that you loved her/him? We've been looking to upgrade Laura's defensive capabilities for a while now, and being the romantic guy I am, I figured what better way to tell my wife how much I love her then with firepower? I also snaked some sweethearts from Peaches while I was at it.

Technical details: 5 shot, .38 special, 2 inch barrel, hammerless (obviously), less than $400. It's a Taurus M85. They had a couple in .357 mag, but Laura didn't like the humpback from the concealed hammer on them. They had a couple of matte stainless, but she liked the black better (that's why I love her!). For one particular reader, they did have a couple of guns with....uggggh...pink grips. You can thank me later. I take cash and/or ammo as payment.

We chose the revolver after a couple of failed attempts at loading Glock magazines, working the slide on a Glock, and a cut thumb after aforementioned slide mishap. This is much lighter than my .40, but the trigger pull is way heavier. You can't beat a revolver for reliability. If at first you don't get a bang, pull the trigger again. They're low maintenence, easy to point and fairly low recoil. Especially since she's not shooting magnum rounds out of it. I'll be taking it to work to put some rounds through it to break it in a bit, and find out how it shoots.

Next on the to-do list: a holster of some kind, and the CWP class. And some good hollowpoint rounds. And maybe a laser grip add-on. And a commander-frame .45 for me. And an M-4 varient.

Grobanite

For those of you that don't already know, I am a Grobanite. I've seen him in concert and UP CLOSE! He is not only amazingly talented, he is gorgeous and funny. Yes, I am in love with Josh.

Hoops and Yoyo

For Valentine's Day John got me Hoops and Yoyo "Days of the Week" button. I love it!!!! If you don't know who they are you must Google them to find out. Their link is above. And if you are ever in Hallmark, which I am sure most of you will be there at least once during the year......you must find the "button" and listen to it. It will crack you up.

I'll Just Watch You Have Fun

Finally, the first day in 2 weeks that I have felt better........not perfect but better. I finally have "a" voice now (not my voice and definitely not a man's voice but hey, it's better than not being able to talk at all). Peaches is finally temperature free but not cough free. She missed 4 days of school this week. I finally broke down and missed 1 day of work. Peaches was well enough today to go to the park and "watch" the kids play. We even took her bike that she insisted we take. She got on her bike then back off....she stayed on for a total of 10 seconds. I guess that was enough fun. After about 40 minutes at the park she was ready to leave. She then fell asleep on the way home. I guess that was exhausting watching all those kids have fun. We then came home and John and I worked in the yard raking leaves until we ran out of bags. DARN! He is now enjoying a ride on the bike, Peaches is at a friends house playing and I am paying bills. Now, that's a productive Saturday.

Honey, your not too sick to clean are you?

Yeah, that is what John implied tonight. I came home from work so exhausted, I wasn't able to talk and was freezing cold. All I wanted was my meds, some food and my pajamas. He then expected me to clean the kitchen after he fixed dinner. I do appreciate him cooking, I truly do......but to clean up the mess? After trying to argue with him in my angry whisper, I guess I won because he cleaned the kitchen. He actually said that I wasn't sick. He would have a hole through his chest if my eyes could have burned one right through him. Just to prove how sick I was I had a coughing attack and nearly chocked on Flem. I already took my "knock-me-out cough medicine" and I am waiting for it to kick in. Good night everyone.

Are we ever going to get better?

Georgia's been tagged. She has something "viral" and it has hit her pretty hard, 104 temperature and congestion hard. She is on her second nap in 3 hours. She woke up long enough to use the restroom, take her meds, take a sip of juice then she was out again. John is also asleep, not because he is sick.....he's just being lazy. I am still waiting for my doctor to call me in another prescription because it is so obvious that the first one did not work. Believe it or not, I have been going to work everyday. Today has been the first day that I haven't been able to talk to customers on the phone (not because I don't want to, but because they wouldn't be able to hear or understand me). I would have to explain that yes, my name is Laura and I am a female. I know I don't sound like one, but trust me). I have the "sexy" flem going as Phoebe would say (Phoebe from Friends). And I actually do sound better when I sing!! That's something to be positive about right? So, we are hoping that we can get over this crap soon because I am tired of feeling tired. (Oh, I would have posted a picture of Georgia asleep in the recliner with her mouth hanging wide open but that probably would have made her upset when she found out). Laura

Chicken & Rice Soup For The Soul

Thank you to the wonderful Temple family who brought us the most delicious wild rice, chicken and corn soup we have ever tasted. I truly believe that the soup (and bread and cake) made me feel better. Today is the best I have felt in 4 days. We only have enough left for one helping (which will be lunch tomorrow). Thanks again, I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Laura

It's Grave Digger!

Why yes, it is as loud as it sounds in the video. Someone likened it to playing with cars in a bathtub...wait, that's too big. It's like playing with trucks in a large mixing bowl. For a nice contrast, watch "Monster Jam" on Speed channel every weekday morning around 7am. They do this thing properly in a stadium, not a basketball court. My advice...don't shell out for the expensive tickets if you're going to see it at the Colonial Life Arena Sponsored by Shell-Mobile-Exxon, starring Billy Bob.....just pay for the cheaper tickets, there's really not a bad seat in the house.
