That's right all you HP freaks...I said the movie was just ok. Not the slam bang greatest movie I've ever seen (that still remains a tie between Die Hard and the Outlaw Josey Wales). Honestly, this episode of the Harry Potter saga isn't even in my top 10.
The action was good...there wasn't enough of it. In a summer where I've seen 30 foot transforming robots fight with swords and cannons, where I've seen Terminators crushed by helicopters, where I've seen mutants try to cut each other up with claws and swords in place of hands....it's just ok.
First of all, I don't know how they made this movie PG? I remember the book being much more action packed, and with that much fighting, it should have been PG-13...but I guess that would leave out all the 8 and 9 year olds that could go see it, hmmmm?
It was long...2 1/2 hours. Now I would say that you needed that time to properly get the feel of the book into the movie...but as you can tell from my previous paragraphs, I don't think they got it done.
Just bleh. Not worth $10 to see, especially if you have to sit through it with yer kids. At most this is a $6 movie. I paid $7.50, so I don't feel really bad. Especially since I went and saw Public Enemies yesterday for $7. Now that's a good movie. Very little language...not much graphic violence...good acting, gunfights, bank robberies, the FBI...what else could you want? Of course, John Dillinger didn't fly into the banks on a broom and threaten everyone with his Thompson Sub-machine wand, but you can't have everything.
