Playroom Makeover

This is our playroom before.............................
This is the playroom after..............................This is also something else that Peaches and I did, with help from our friends on Friday and Saturday. We put in closet organizer kits and rearranged the room. It took us 5 hours on Friday and all day Saturday. We were very pleased with the outcome. John was very happy when he got home and saw that all of the work had been done for him.

Very Fortunate

I just wanted to say that I am very fortunate to have a wonderful family, career and friends. I am grateful for my sometimes mundane, ordinary life. I used to think that my life was boring and that I didn't have excitement and drama. After visiting a family today that is really struggling, struggling just to get by each day, not knowing what tomorrow will bring; I realized how blessed I was. I left their house feeling guilty that I was free to go home and rest, free to go grocery shopping and not have to worry about picking up a gallon of ice cream or two or five and feeling guilty that my bills were paid on time (and sometimes paying more on that car payment just because). I felt helpless that I couldn't do more to help them. This experience has made me want to help others more, give my time more freely and not be selfish. I was humbled by this experience today and grateful that I made a small difference in this families life.

So What's Been Happening?

Well let's see.........while John has been away Peaches and I
1. Cleaned out the entire playroom so we can paint and put up closet organizers this weekend. This included moving all of the furniture out and two closets full of clothes, boxes, bins and toys.
2. Peaches did a somersault down the stairs Tuesday night and somehow managed to only get a tiny burn on her ankle. I was totally prepared for a trip to the hospital because I just knew a bone was broken.
3. Went to my companies Spring Fling and ate hot dogs and hamburgers.
4. Peaches fell off the sidewalk at the Spring Fling. Again I was totally prepared for a trip to the ER because I just knew her wrist was broken. She only received some scratches on her hand and leg.
5. Watched Marley & Me, Shrek The Third and The Family That Preys
6. Went to see The Hannah Montana Movie
7. Read books, played Crazy 8's, knocked over Dominos, colored, raced around the house and I vacuumed with Peaches glued to my back (that was my workout for the day).
8. Oh, and I woke up with a killer sore throat which I still have...........dang sinuses
Only 3 more days to go until John comes home. Peaches is counting down the days.

Easter Dinner

Let's see, Peaches had Generic Spaghetti O's and I had a bowl of Cinnamon Chex Cereal. Yummy! Before dinner we had a piece of cake, one cupcake a piece, Easter candy and more Easter candy.......and we shared a Mountain Dew. Sorry, no leftovers. (At least the cupcakes were homemade).

What do the girls do while daddy is away?

Go shopping, eat out and go to the movies of course. Peaches and I spent yesterday shopping and today we went to see Hannah Montana The Movie. It was actually very good and I even teared up at one point. Peaches had her hands in the air rocking out to the music. I kept trying to put her hands down and she would just raise them higher. She sang the words to the songs she knew. Let me rephrase that, she sang "her words" to the songs she knew. The best part of the movie was that it was only 1 1/2 hours long.
On another note............
It is now 7:40 PM and I just put Easter cupcakes in the oven. I guess I will be up until 9 PM frosting and decorating them because I have a feeling that "someone" will be passed out by then. Peaches was inspired by the cupcakes at the primary activity so of course we had to go to two different stores to buy all of the ingredients (that's what I get for trying to take the easy way out and getting the mix at Walgreen's.........they had the mix but I wasn't spending $3.00 on chocolate frosting). So off to Bi-lo we went and picked up coconut and vanilla frosting. I should have gone there in the first place.
I am totally exhausted and I am only on day 2 of being a single parent. I have 6 more days to go. I sure hope the week goes by fast. I am running out of ideas and I can only play so many games of Uno or Old Maid.
